Seahorse

Lost the seahorse a week ago.

Incredible how she survived for so long. I still do not understand.

What remains in the tank are five reef hermits, two of which are a dazzling bright crimson, two snails, and a chocolate chip star. Currently I'm feeding food pellets into the clam shell where I fed the seahorse every two days as well as manually feeding flakes to the starfish.

I paid $70 for the seahorse, which was tank raised and had grown up on frozen mysis. As much as I loved the time I had her, I won't be getting another. Seahorses needed to be fed twice a day and you can forget going on a peaceful three or even two-day vacation. I was devastated the morning I woke up and gave her her first round of food and the snick no longer triggered.

Anyway, I'd love to hear recommendations for a cheap, hardy invert or solo little fish to take her place in the ten gallon.

I was thinking mantis shrimp, but I doubt I could ever find a specimen I would like that would be large enough not to completely vanish in the tank.
