Damned algae
I'd been having a very nasty algae problem with the puffer tank, even before the tank had puffers.
A nasty brown smude covered every surface, from the synthetic coral to the artificial plants and filter intake. I thought it was the crushed coral I employed as the substrate but a week ago I removed it and replaced it with black gravel and the algae grew back.
I guess the next step is break down the tank and bleach everything, then swap out the biowheel with the one over the frog tank.
In the meantime I did a 50% water change and put the freshwater clam in there in the hope it will eliminate some of the cloudy water from the algae.
Nasty and ruining an otherwise pristine and beautiful tank.
